The next Ballon d'Or award is certainly going to be one of the most exciting in recent times. Many popular football players have shown more interest in who could win the award, with the latest player being Marco Verratti of PSG.
Next December, Lionel Messi's successor to the Ballon d'Or title will be officially known. In the meantime, everyone has their favorites. Marco Verratti has decided on who he thinks should win the Ballon d'Or between the two main favorites, Jorginho and Lionel Messi.
In an interview by La Gazzetta dello sport, he revealed his opinion on who should win the 2021 Ballon d'Or: "Donnarumma is young, I wish him to win it one day. The choice between Jorginho and Messi needs to be clarified, if it's to be given to someone who has won everything in Europe, it should be Jorginho. If we give it to the strongest of them, who entertains millions of fans in every game, including myself, then Messi will always win it as long as he plays".
The PSG midfielder also commented on the transfer of Lionel Messi: "To have Messi here is incredible. I didn’t believe it before seeing him. We already knew each other, he may not speak much, but for me he is the best in history, technical and selfless. I don't think he will have a hard time finding a starting position, the recruiting campaign has been incredible", he said of the Argentine genius.
