4 Players That Haven’t Met Expectations Since Their Transfers (Photos)

4. Jadon Sancho

Jadon was the long-awaited winger Manchester United desperately needed. The club splashed a whooping £76.50 Million to get the 21-year-old at Old Trafford.

His signing was the most expensive signing United has ever made. This was because great things were expected from the English player.

He was in full form during his four years at Borussia Dortmund, his outrageous pace, and unforgivable shot ability took his performance to the roof. But it seems like Sancho has lost his inner drive.

In 12 appearances, he has not scored a single goal or contributed to one. Ole Gunnar Solskjær recently made some changes in the United Formation, placing 5 defenders at the back, and removing the place of a right-winger.

Sancho may struggle even more now to get playing time now.

3. Eden Hazard

The Belgian left Chelsea as one of the best forwarders in Europe. His sick moves, awesome skills, and world-class finishes were off the roofs back then.

But things haven't been as easy at Santiago Bernabéu, the 30-year-old has been a mere shadow of his former self.

Injuries have made things even worst, Hazard has been struggling with injuries, and has not gotten enough playing time since 2019.

Well even though he has been relatively free this season, Hazard has missed some crucial games and hasn't done much in his 10 appearances so far.

2. Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku's move to Chelsea was one of the biggest this summer, fans expected that he would take the Blues to the next level with his agility and body stamina.

The first 4 games worked out great, The Belgian found the back of the net 4 times in just 4 appearances. But it seems like he has run out of luck.

Lukaku hasn't made much impact in the last few games and has failed to meet expectations. The 28-year old has failed to score in 7 appearances and has just 1 assist to his name.

1. Lionel Messi

When fans heard that Messi was ready to join PSG, they literally broke the Internet, the number of reactions was insane. It was the biggest news ever.

Mbappe had to sacrifice his spot to accommodate the Argentine, and Icardi even lost his position on the first lineup, just to watch the 36-year-old reach his full potentials, but it has not quite been the case.

The Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar trio has not been as effective as expected.

The 5x Ballon D'Or winner has not been able to register any goal in his 5 league 1 appearances. Though found the back of the net 3 times in 2 champions league matches, it's just not enough.

Mbappe on the other hand has been doing most of the scoring. Well, I believe Messi is still getting used to the team and will step up in due time.
