Azubuike tests negative for coronavirus

İstanbul Basaksehir and Nigeria midfielder, Azubuike Okechukwu, has tested negative for the coronavirus.

The Turkish Super Lig side decided to have all players of the team, technical crew and staff tested after the spread of the coronavirus pandemic which had led to the league being postponed indefinitely.

According to a statement from the club’s medical team, the entire samples taken out for the COVID-19 test returned negative to the delight of the team.

“There was no positive results found in COVID-19 virus screening carried out on all our football players, technical delegation and staff on Thursday,” the statement reads.

Over 30 football players around the world have contacted the virus including notable players such as Paolo Dybala, Blaise Matuide, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Marouane Fellaini and many more.

Turkish football recently recorded positive cases of the virus with Galatasaray manager, Fatih Terim, testing positive. On Monday, the club had also confirmed that Abdurrahim Albayrak, a vice-chairman of the club, tested positive for the virus.

The club recorded another case on Friday as another vice president, Yusuf Gunay, also tested positive for COVID-19,” Galatasaray said on their Twitter account.
