Chelsea suffered their first Premier League defeat against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge. Pep Guardiola managed to defeat Thomas Tuchel in their fourth meeting since two years. Guardiola and his men managed to revenge their 1-0 Champions League loss with a victory at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City defeated Chelsea to climb up to the second position, leveling Chelsea's 13 points in the Premier League table.
However, it appears that one Chelsea player was missed in today's clash against Man City. Mason Mount who played a major role in Chelsea's UCL victory last season was ruled out due to Injury. His presence in the attacking third was felt today, Mount's absence showed how much of importance he is in Thomas Tuchel's 3-4-3 Lineup. Mount sustained his first Injury after playing 100 plus games for Chelsea.
The 21-year old Chelsea playmaker has proven to be a huge asset in Thomas Tuchel's squad. He was among the reason Man City lost In the UEFA CL Final, and it is also possibly if he was available in today's game against City, it might have been a different story all together. However, the one thing Mount could have helped Tuchel achieve against Pep Guardiola's City is an 'A Draw'.
Mason Mount has gotten up to three assist in the Premier League this season, he has been very consistent for Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea. In today's game, Chelsea head coach was forced to Change his normal 3-4-3 tactics to a 3-5-2 defensive plan. This literally limited Chelsea from causing much problem in Man City's defense. Upon Chelsea played up to 3 midfielders, the blues found it very difficult to create chances. Mount is very good at making runs or passes which could help open up an opponents defense. It is possible that if he had featured against Man City, he could have made a goal contribution, who knows, the match would have ended in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
