Fenerbahçe Agree To Pay €4.5m For Onyekuru

The usual transfer war between two arch-rivals of the Turkish Super Lig, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, has taken a new dimension with the latter ready to flaunt their financial prowess.

Towards this end, Fenerbahçe have notified AS Monaco of their readiness to cough out €4.5 million to enjoy the services of Super Eagles winger, Henry Onyekuru, next season.

And the 23-year-old Nigerian international, who scored 5 goals and bagged 4 assists in 15 matches for Galatasaray after coming in on loan in January, looks certain to join Fenerbahçe next season.

Sporgundemi.net reported that Fenerbahçe are determined to get at their rival in the transfer market after Galatasaray's transfer talks with Monaco over Onyekuru's future hit a brick wall.

Monaco had demanded that Gala pay €4.5m on or before June 11 to trigger Onyekuru's option to buy status if they must enjoy the player's services next season but the Red and Yellow preferred to spend the amount on Onyekuru’s more illustrious compatriot and Super Eagles' skipper Ahmed Musa.

But Gala’s fierce city rivals Fenerbahçe have told The Principles they will be willing to pay the amount following coach Emre Belözoğlu's search for an experienced winger that will add colour to the side and enhance the Yellow Canaries’ push for the league diadem next season.
