Man United chief prepares for an emergency meeting midst calls to sack Solskjaer

Manchester United managing director Richard Arnold has postponed all appointments for the day, according to The Guardian (h/t The Mirror), in order to hold an emergency meeting with Joel Glazer amid calls to remove manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

After losing horribly against a well-drilled Liverpool squad on home turf, the Norwegian has a black cloud hanging over his head. A loss would have been handled with a grain of salt, but a 5-0 humiliation has the United boardroom worried.

The writing has, however, been on the wall for some time. United's form leading up to the international break was a warning indication of things to come, and their performances against Leicester and Atalanta proved to be unheeded.

Despite the fact that Solskjaer had the support of the club's management, the manager's future is now being'seriously considered.' Furthermore, it appears that the 48-year-old has lost access to the dressing room.

Several players are now doubting the manager's ability and whether he is the ideal man to lead the club forward. Over the last two seasons, the investment has been sound, and it is only natural that the hierarchy and supporters want to see the results.

Furthermore, Antonio Conte is thought to be interested in taking the post, adding to the pressure on the former Cardiff manager. Unlike Solskjaer, Conte has a track record of winning championships in two of Europe's top leagues.

Richard Arnold and Joel Glazer are reported to be discussing the 'plan of action' from this position, as the Red Devils might potentially face further humiliation in the coming weeks.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur would both be willing to fire Solskjaer, while a string of poor performances might push them out of contention on multiple fronts. At Old Trafford, things are tense, and a crucial decision about the manager's future may be made sooner rather than later.
