The right-back has featured in 15 matches this term, providing seven assists in all competitions.
He has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Scotland. Ramsay has represented Scotland at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 level, winning 11 caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The English giants are looking to sign a right-back and have identified the 18-year-old as potential transfer target. United have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from UK, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
Calvin Ramsay is a skilled right-back who can make a difference at both ends of the pitch. His versatile nature can help the manager to be more flexible with the formations.
According to the report, “Manchester United have opened talks with Aberdeen for Calvin Ramsay. The Mirror says Ramsay, 18, was promoted to Aberdeen’s senior squad this summer and since then he has really impressed. The fullback has already played 14 games and has established himself in the starting eleven at the Scottish club. Several Premier League clubs are interested in Ramsay. However, Manchester United is at the forefront of the hunt for Ramsay and have already been in contact with Aberdeen.”
Aberdeen would be wise to keep the Scotland international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Although he may not be an immediate improvement to the squad, he could be a valuable signing for the future if he continues to progress at this rate.
It will be interesting to see whether Manchester United will make their move during the winter transfer window.
Should Manchester United sign Calvin Ramsay?
