Opinion: 5 Reasons Man United's Unbeaten Away Run May End Today

Manchester United are one of the most inform team in the Premier League at the moment. In fact, it is even safe to give the tag of the most inform team following Manchester City's 2 – 1 at home to Leeds United. In my opinion however, I think they will lose their match against Tottenham Hotspur today.

That's may prove a difficult task for Tottenham because the Red Devils haven't lost a Premier League away game in more than a year now. In fact, the last time they lost a Premier League away game was in January 2020. Since then, they have managed to avoid defeat away from home in more than 21 matches.

However, their trip to the home of Tottenham may change all that and put an end to their 22 games Unbeaten away run for the following 5 reasons.

5. Fatigue may set in.

Ole Gunnar Solksjear's team have played so many games this season. That they have played a lot of games means that players may get tired or burn out. Players such as Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandez, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw who have been their best players this season appear to be tiring out.

What's more, they played on Thursday in the Europa League against Granada while Tottenham Hotspur have had a full week's rest. So, it would not be a surprising thing if Tottenham appear sharper than Manchester United.

Also, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are not fully fit yet and Bruno has been ever present in the team since he joined the club in January 2020. All these players played on Thursday as well.

In the end, a Tottenham victory may be the outcome off the game as a result of the tiredness in the Manchester United squad.

4. The result of their first meeting this season.

Earlier this season, Tottenham Hotspur smashed 6 goals past Manchester United. It represents one of the most surprising results this season. What makes it even more surprising was that it was at the theater of dreams.

Although, this fixture is taking outside Old Trafford, results from the first meeting may affect the Manchester United players. Psychologically, the players may be affected by that result, which could in turn affect their game. If this happens, United may just go on to lose. That way, the unbeaten run will come to an end.

3. The goalkeeper situation.

Manchester United appear not to have a recognized first choice goalkeeper. Both David De Gea and Dean Henderson have been rotated in games in recent weeks. This could result into a situation where the defense the right chemistry with the goalkeeper.

As a result, any single miscommunication between the United defensive set up may be capitalized upon. It appears that neither Henderson nor De Gea is assured of starting, something that could affect the preparation of both goalscorers.

Facing a Tottenham side with the likes of Harry Kane and Son, having an unprepared goalkeeper between the sticks is not ideal. For this reason, United may go on to lose the games and see there Unbeaten away run come to an end.

2. They are not really consistent.

One of the major problems if Manchester United this season is their tendency to mess things up when one least expected. They follow a series of impressive victory with one horror show or the other. Many a time this season, they go on to lose a game or two after putting together a string of victories.

The most recent is their FA Cut defeat to Leicester. In that game, they were the clear favorite. Unfortunately for them, their inconsistency may surface, and they may end up losing the match.

Since then, they have won two games on the bounce. One would then expect that they should be able to get the job done. However, they may go on to lose the match as they are not very consistent.

1. Tottenham is in desperate need of points.

Manchester United are not in danger of lose out on the race for a Champions League position. They are also in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and hold a 2 – 0 advantage going into the second leg of the tie.

Tottenham Hotspur on the other hand are currently out of the Champions League positions. This means that they need the three points on offer more than Manchester United.

For this reason, it is expected that they would go into the match hungrier for the three points, something that could see them win the match and ultimately put an end to Manchester United's Unbeaten away run.

While a victory for Manchester United will help close the game between them and Manchester City, Tottenham for the reasons above may end up getting it. A victory for Tottenham will see Manchester United unbeaten away run come to an end today.

What do you think the scoreline will be at the end of the match? Do you see Tottenham ending Manchester United's unbeaten away run today.
