UCL: Why Man City will not reach the Champions League final

Manchester City are just one victory away from reaching a second Champions League final under Pep Guardiola and has now emerged as clear favourites to lift the European trophy this year.

Erling Haaland has been described as the final piece of the puzzle needed for Man City to finally lift the Champions League trophy but first they would have to beat Real Madrid at the Etihad on Wednesday night, to book themselves a spot at Istanbul to take on Inter Milan next month.

Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish has already sent out warning to Real Madrid ahead of the Etihad showdown on Wednesday. While Pep Guardiola has also notified that he won't misuse his tactics against Carlo Ancelotti's men.

Manchester City are clear favourites on paper to win the Champions League after salvaging a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu against Madrid in the first leg of the ChampionsbLeague semi final tie but there are still some European curses that are still haunting them.

Manchester City has not lost an Etihad game in the Champions League since 2018. But the Citizens has never qualified from a Champions League game that was ended in a draw in the first leg.

Erling Haaland might posses scaring numbers in terms of goals scored this season, but as shown in certain games, the Norwegian can still be silenced. The likes of Lisandro Martinez and Christian Romero has played huge roles in stopping the former Dortmund man from finding the back of the net.

Former Chelsea and Roma defender, Antonio Rudiger, is the latest man to join the list of centre-halves that has stopped Erling Haaland from scoring this season. Rudiger is also the first defender in the Champions League to stop Haaland from scoring this season.

The battle between Erling Haaland and Antonio Rudiger would be an interesting one to watch this evening as it could decide which club will be going to Istanbul next month.
