Chelsea 'interested in signing RB Leipzig Star'

The Blues could reportedly move for RB Leipzig centre-defender Ibrahima Konate during this summer's transfer market.

The Frenchman has a contract with RB Leipzig until June year 2023, but it is understood that there will be a €45m (£39m) release clause in his contract during this summer's transfer market.

The Red Devils and Arsenal have both been linked with an interest in the France International, who has netted once in fourteen outings at club level during the current campaign.

However, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, there is also real interest from the Blues, with Chelsea thought to be keen to boost their defensive alternatives in the upcoming window.

Falk claims that the London club's new assistant gaffer Zsolt Low could play a role in convincing Ibrahima Konate to move to Chelsea, having coached the centre-defender at RB Leipzig before he followed now-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to PSG.

The France International has only just returned to action following a stint on the sidelines with an ankle issue.
