Moldovan football club FC Sheriff Tiraspol, have been one of the surprise teams in the Champions League this season after their magnificent victory over Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid, to top their Group (Sheriff won Shakhtar 2-0 and Real Madrid 2-1 to top the group with 6 points). Real Madrid are second with 3 points, Inter Milan and Shakhtar are 1 points each on third and fourth respectively.
On paper, Sheriff Tiraspol won’t stand a chance over Real Madrid, Shakhtar or Inter Milan but football is being played on the field as they have shown they possess the qualities to match any team. Sheriff Tiraspol are currently third in their league with 25 points from 12 games, as they last lost a match in July to FC Balti. Sheriff Tiraspol, will be the motivated side when they face Inter Milan, as they wish to continue their fairytale season but in their domestic league and in the Champions League (A win over Inter Milan would send shock waves among other Champions League teams).
Italian champions Inter Milan lost their league match after Lazio came from a goal down to record an incredible win which took them to 5th place in the Serie A standings. Currently on 3rd place from 8 league games, Inter Milan are yet to replicate their last season Serie A dominance which saw them won the league for the first time since the 2010/2011 season with Antonio Conte in charge of the team (According to reports, Conte left Inter due to the club’s plans to cut costs due to the impact of the pandemic).
This season, Inter Milan are yet to win a Champions League match, as they draw their first match with Shakhtar Donetsk. Inter Milan are desperate to win their next Champions League feature, as any other result other than a win could cast doubt over their Champions League chase.
