Brentford vs Chelsea: 3 Dangerous Players Tuchel Should Look Out For

Chelsea are faced with a daunting task of keeping their place at the top of the Premier League table this weekend. All the title challengers will be playing on Saturday (today) due to their engagements in the UEFA Champions League coming up in midweek.

With Liverpool kicking off the match day at Vicarage road against Watford (12:30pm kickoff) and Man City expected to see off Burnley after then (3pm kickoff), Chelsea will mostly have lost their top spot before they play their highly anticipated West London derby against Brentford in the last game of the day (5:30pm kickoff).

Thomas Tuchel will be aware of the fine form of his opponents coming into this match. The newly promoted side have shocked everyone with their performances in the top flight so far, currently sitting in the top half of the table on seventh position.

The 'Bees' are unbeaten in the three London derbies they have played so far with wins against Arsenal and West Ham plus a draw with Crystal Palace. Perhaps their most impressive result was the entertaining 3-3 draw with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in their last home match.

Ahead of this crucial encounter, Thomas Tuchel will have to be weary of some individuals in that Brentford team who are capable of ruining a day's work for his side. There are three key players in Thomas Frank’s side who can hurt the Blues today, meet them below:

1. Ivan Toney

Toney is the first name that would come to mind when anyone mentions Brentford FC. The English-Jamaican forward has been the fear factor for the Bees since his arrival in the team last season. In his debut season for Brentford, Toney broke the record for most goals scored in a single Championship campaign with 33 goals to his name.

The 25 year old has carried that form into the Premier League with 4 goal contributions (2 goals and 2 assists) already in seven games played. His super strength, positioning, movement and lethal finishing are what allows him score so many goals and if he brings his A-game today, it could spell trouble for the visiting table toppers.

2. Bryan Mbuemo

Mbuemo is always deployed as Toney's strike partner in Brentford's favorite 3-5-2 formation. The French forward's partnership with Toney played a major role to guide Brentford to promotion last season.

The 22 year old striker is blessed with pace and clever movement which allows him to feed off from Toney's hold-up play beside him. Mbuemo is also a good finisher with 2 goals in the English top-flight already this season.

His telepathic understanding with Ivan Toney and his pace could prove too much for Chelsea's injury-hit defence line to cope with today.

Yoane Wissa

Thomas Frank’s secret weapon. Tuchel particularly has to be careful about this player because he could hurt his side in a painful way. Wissa has not necessarily been a starter in Thomas Frank’s team but the former Lorient striker knows how to make an impact from the bench.

The DRC Congo international has scored in three consecutive matches for the Bees (4 goals), including strike off the bench that secured a 3-3 draw with Liverpool and a dramatic late winner against West Ham United last time out.

Chelsea will find it hard to cope with these three players especially with two of their key defenders out. Tuchel revealed on Friday that Rudiger has a slight injury while Thiago Silva will remain in quarantine after returning from national team duty in South America.

In the absence of Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger for this match, and you can trust Toney, Mbuemo and Wissa to fancy themselves against Christensen, Azpilicueta and Chalobah.

Chelsea will also find it hard to negotiate their way past Brentford's solid defence line. The Bees are well-drilled at the back and have conceded just six times this season while keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Spanish keeper David Raya will be well protected by a back-three of Ethan Pinnock, Mathias Jorgensen and club captain Pontus Jansson who will try and stifle Chelsea's attack.

The European champions are clear favorites to walk away with the three points from this encounter but it would be wise not to rule out Brentford who will have home advantage with their supporters cheering them to get the victory. The match between Brentford and Chelsea is will be the last EPL game of Saturday (5:30pm local kickoff).
