N'Golo Kante, when he is fit, is one of the best Defensive Midfielders in the Premier league. The Frenchman played a vital role in Leicester City's Premier League success during the 2015/16 Campaign before doing the same at Chelsea the following season in the 2016/17 season after leaving King Power Stadium at the end of that League-winning season with the Foxes.
N'Golo Kante was also instrumental in Chelsea's UEFA Champions League success two seasons ago but, he hasn't been in form since then. Thomas Tuchel lamented about the recurring injury of the Frenchman towards the end of last season as the German Gaffer blamed N'Golo Kante's injury for Chelsea's bad campaign in the 2021/22 season.
This season, Chelsea has seen less of N'Golo Kante due to Injury. The Former Leicester City Star has been absent for most of the season due to injury. The last time he played for Chelsea was against Tottenham Hotspur in August last year.
In his absence, Chelsea have signed 2022 FIFA World Cup Young Player of the tournament Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a fee of £106million. Enzo Fernandez has played with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovavic in the midfield but, Chelsea is still struggling for form.
It's expected that Enzo Fernandez will be able to play in his favorite position when he has a Defensive Midfielder playing beside him. N'Golo Kante is close to making a return to Chelsea squad as he was spotted in training on Tuesday and he could return to Chelsea Midfield alongside Enzo Fernandez. When this happens, Chelsea will have two Midfielders, that helped their national team to win the FIFA World Cup, playing together.
