Kamaru Usman Declares War On Masvidal At UFC 261

It's time for a rematch as current Welterweight champion Kamaru 'The Nigerian Nightmare' Usman and American professional mixed martial artist Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal prepares for their highly anticipated sold-out 170-rematch at UFC 261 at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida in the early hours of January.

In this UFC 261 title fight, which sold out 15,000 tickets in fifteen minutes after it was announced, longtime contender Masvidal seeks vengeance for his defeat in their first meeting in July 2020, while reigning champion Kamaru is simply looking for another solid clear-cut victory.

Jorge, 36, has been competing professionally since 2003 and believes Usman is the same fighter he faced last year.

“I just know he knows I'm going to have gas for five rounds, and he's going to have to put up with my insane pace of trying to finish him from start to finish”; while the Nigerian Nightmare still has a bad taste in his mouth from being unable to get his win over Masvidal the way he desired, “it wasn't because of what people said or thought, it was because of what I thought a little bit.”

I was still able to win, but not in the manner in which I desired. Thus, my objective for the rematch is straightforward: I believe I did not break him in the manner in which I desired, and thus that is truly what I am after.”
