Can Mason Mount Fulfil The Promise He Made To His Father This Season?

The young Englishman has been at Chelsea since he was just a little kid and he had always dreamt of achieving great success with the club that gave him such an opportunity.

Mount made his debut for the club not so long ago and since then, he's never looked back. Last season he was voted the club's best player and deservedly so.

His immense contribution and talent was so crucial to what Chelsea achieved last season and the fact that he provided the sublime pass that put Kai Havertz through on goal on their greatest ever night as players made it even more special for the boy known as "Money Mase".photo credit: Getty images

After the referee blew the final whistle that night at the Estadio do Dragao in Portugal, confirming Chelsea as the new Champions of Europe for the second time in the club's history and the for first time in all of the players career, bar Kovacic, Mount was in credit: Getty images

He couldn't believe what had happened. His childhood dream has just manifested right there and at such a young age for him. He was in tears as he saw his dad, Tony Mount come down unto the pitch.

Tony revealed after the whole celebration what his son Mason had to say to him when he went to make him realise that he's just won the Uefa Champions League;

"I grabbed him by the ears and said you've won it, you've won the Champions League, can you believe it? He went: 'yeah, I'm going to win the Premier League now."

It's like, enjoy this one! He said: 'I am, but I'm going to win the Premier League, we're going to win the Premier League'. I'm like yeah, I agree I think you will."

Mount is the player he is today simply because of a mindset like that. How can you be thinking about the Premier league just moments after winning the Champions league ?

So Can Mount Fulfil His Promise This New Season

Mount brings so much energy to the team. Whether he's on the ball or not, the team benefits immensely from his impact and if they're to win the Premier League this season, he'll have to be at the top of his game.

Chelsea will face huge competition from Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and probably Arsenal for the title this season and will have to be better than all the 19 teams in the country before they can emerge Champions.

Fortunately for Mason, they have a manager who will probably have it at the back of his mind that they could win the Premier league this season.

Chelsea have been working hard in training, Mount in particular looks ready for the next challenge but there's one thing they need to sort out going into the new season.

The Striker position. Chelsea desperately needs a born goalscorer. This is why they're said to be heavily interested in Dortmund's Erling credit: Getty images

If they manage to sign the Norwegian young super star, I can confidently say that they become the red hot favourites to win the Premier league.

It's been a while since they won the Premier league and the last time they did, they had the services of Diego Costa as their number 9 and he scored a ton of goals to help the team.

What this means is that, to win the EPL, you need goals and right now I don't think Chelsea have enough goals in them to win the league.

Unless Timo Werner can regain his Leipzig form, Mason Mount's only chance to fulfil the promise he made his dad this season is for Cheslea to sign a worldclass striker like Haaland or even Lukaku.

What do you think?
