Kenyan World Record Holder In Long Distance Race, Tirop Found Dead At Her Home

Agnes Tirop was one of the most promising long distance runners before her life was cut short by yet to be identified assailants. Tirop who last month broke the 10,000 meters women world record long distance race in Germany, was found dead at home in her pool of blood by the police on Tuesday. It was reported that the deceased father called the police after he could not reached his daughter for days.

At 25, Tirop was already shining like a million stars for Kenya on the athletics world stage. The late talented female athlete won bronze medals at the 2017 and 2018 World Championships. Tirop came 4th at the 5,000 meters long distance race during the recently concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan.

Curiously, the husband of the late athlete, Emmanuel has not been seen since the death of Tirop was made public. Some Kenyans were already alleging that Emmanuel might have one or two questions to answer concerning the death of his wife.

It is sad that such a young promising athlete would be murdered in such a gruesome manner. There is no doubt that whomever that might have committed such a dastardly act might be very familiar with her.

There is every need for the Kenyan security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation in order to prosecute to the last letter of the law of the land those found guilty to be behind the brutal murder of Tirop.
