Arsenal's English defender Ben White was signed from Brighton and Hove Albion during the recently concluded summer transfer window for a fee of 50 million pounds.
The defender is regarded as one of the best ball-playing centre-backs in the Premier League despite his young age. Ben White has performed admirably since he made his debut for the Gunners against Brentford FC at the start of the season.
Today marks the 24th birthday of Ben White and his mother made some surprising revelations about the struggles Ben White went through when he was a kid.
In an interview with sports website (The Athletic), she said, " His immune system was not working. If somebody sneezed, he would end with pneumonia. He had appendicitis and he didn't come around from that for a while".
"He was in hospital for much of his young life, for months at a time. They said, take him home. He is probably safer at home because of the bugs around hospitals".
Ben White had dreamed of becoming a professional footballer and he was encouraged by doctors to partake in sports to build up his immune system.
This revelation is quite a very difficult experience for someone to have at any stage in life. For Ben White to overcome this obstacle and become the person he is today, it teaches us very important life lessons.
Becoming a professional footballer is no easy task and Ben White had to work harder than the rest of his peers to achieve his aim because he had a different health status. This shows us that whatever the obstacle is, one can work hard to overcome it and achieve his desired dreams.
Also, excuses should not be tolerated when it comes to achieving goals. There is a chance for everyone to overcome any challenge and achieve their dreams.
