4 Super Eagles Strikers That Have Scored At Least 7 Goals This Season

In recent times, Nigeria has witnessed a surge in the development of clinical finishers in football. It is very evident when you look at the likes of Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Osimhen.

Kelechi Iheanacho for instance was in a blistering form towards the end of last season, scoring 19 goals in the process. Osimhen had a promising start to life at Napoli but injuries disturbed his season and he ended up with 10 goals for the club. This season, however, things are looking good.

Onuachu on the other hand scored an incredible 33 goals for Genk last season and has continued the spree this season.

I did a little research and found out that Nigerian strikers are becoming lethal and 4 of them have already scored at least 7 goals this season.

Here they are.

1. Victor Osimhen

Since his debut with the Nigerian under 17, everyone has always known that Osimhen can achieve great things.

He is currently doing it with Napoli, leading the club's scoring chart with a record of 9 goals already this season.

His team also happen to be in first place in Serie A. If Osimhen continues in this fine form, he could help Napoli win the league.

2. Paul Onuachu

The Genk goal-scoring machine is what I call him. Onuachu is a towering striker with a well-built physique that helps him intimidate opposition defence and score goals.

Onuachu has amassed a total of 12 goals already. He scored 10 in the Belgian league, 1 in the Europa League and 1 in a Champions League qualifying match.

With a long season up ahead, Onuachu can continue in this fine form and hit a higher number of goals.

3. Taiwo Awoniyi

Taiwo Awoniyi might not be a popular name for most Nigerians, because he recently burst onto the scenes.

The former Liverpool man currently plays for Union Berlin and has been a huge revelation this season. Taiwo has already hit a total of 8 goals; 7 in the Bundesliga and 1 in the DFB Pokal. He certainly looks hungry for more goals and this season could mark the beginning of a goal laden career for the young Nigerian.

4. Odion Ighalo

Of course, Ighalo needs no introduction here. The veteran striker has been tested and trusted over the span of his career.

Igahlo has played in Italy, England, China and recently Saudi Arabia. He has performed in all those clubs even up till this season.

He has scored 9 goals in 10 matches already. It may be the reason why Gernot Rohr thought it wise to call him up to the Nigerian squad.
