Barcelona themselves lost to ten-men Osasuna,so they would have lost the league even if Real Madrid lost against Villarreal.

3)Ballon d'or 2020 award:League trophy is one of the credentials needed for this prestigious award,and since Messi has missed Laliga trophy this season,he will be looking to win the champions league so as to boost his chance of winning the award.
