4 Things we noticed from Arsenal's win against Manchester City

Not many people saw Arsenal going through to the final of the FA Cup this season. Especially with a win against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City who have gotten a win against the Gooners twice this season. Peharps this is what football fans call "the magic of the Cup"

Mikel Arteta now has a chance to win a trophy in his first season as a professional football manager. Here are the four main things we noticed during the game.

1. David Luiz's best game for Arsenal

Not many Arsenal fans were brimming with confidence when Unai Emery signed the Brazilian defender from fierce rivals, Chelsea. They were not expecting much but also weren't expecting some of the abysmal performances the defender has put up since he joined the club.

He made a crucial mistake that saw him get sent off in Arsenal's last outing against Manchester City in the Premier League but he made up for it by putting on a defensive masterclass in the semi-final. His stats speak for themselves. He made 11 clearances, 4 interceptions and 1 crucial tackle. He also won 100% of his aerial dues as well as 100% of his tackles. He has been criticised a lot by both the media and the fans but he deserves praise for his performance last night.

2. Keiran Tierney is a bargain

During Arsene Wenger's iconic spell as Arsenal manager, he was known for getting elite players at bargain prices. It would seem that Arsenal are continuing that tradition with Keiran Tierney being an absolute bargain for his quality.

Injuries halted his start to a promising Premier League career but we are actually starting to see why Celtic fans rated him so highly. £25 million is now looking like a steal and the Scottish International will definitely improve if he manages to stay fit.

He had 88% pass accuracy, which is highly impressive for a fullback, 7 clearances and 1 assist. He was immense both defensively and offensively.

3. Arsenal outsmarted Guardiola

We all know how inexperienced Mikel Arteta is when it comes to first team management but he is already displaying certain features that would rank him amongst the best in the world. It is not everyday a manager outsmarts Pep Guardiola, who is an aclaimed tactician. But Arteta learned from his mistakes after his agonising defeat at the Etihad stadium in the league.

While the football wasn't great to watch, you cannot expect the squad at Arsenal to go head to head with the world class players at City. Arteta acknowledged this and he choose to pull off a counterattacking master class much like Ole Gunner Solskjaer did against Manchester City.

If the ex-Arsenal midfielder receives backing in the transfer market, it could all fall in place for him to properly bring the Gooners back to the top.

4. Arsenal cannot lose Aubameyang

Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang has been one of the few players that have carried Arsenal all through the season and he did it again last night, when it mattered most.

Aubameyang's two goals secured the win and that should send a clear message to Arsenal's hierarchy that he needs to be tied down with a new contract. The Gabonese International scored 2 goals last night with 3 shots on target in an absolutely clinical performance.
