The tactics worked well with Chelsea quick to possession and they were a better team for the first 20minutes, creating chances and constantly troubling De Gea.
The injury to Eric Bailly freed Giroud to score the first goal in the first half, De Gea also made a made an error which gifted Mason Mount the second goal.
Maguire was under criticism for allowing Giroud score and for his own goal, with many saying it was his fault for not tracking Giroud back.
