The 'Rudiger turnaround' we could witness at Man United when Ole finally leaves

We all witnessed how Antonio Rudiger transformed into a world class defender under a new manager at Chelsea after being sidelined for so long by his former coach.

Simply put, Frank Lampard was not a big fan of the former AS Roma player. He preferred the likes of Kurt Zouma and even Fikayo Tomori over the Germany international.

However, the appointment of Thomas Tuchel turned things around for him as he immediately became an important part of the squad that achieved UEFA Champions League glory.

We could witness a replica of that Rudiger situation at Manchester United with Ivorian center back Eric Bailly.

The 27 year old defender has been sidelined in the Manchester United team by Solskjaer with preference given to Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof all ahead of him.

However, with recent reports of an imminent change of manager at Old Trafford, Bailly could finally get the chance he deserves.

According to widespread reports from the media, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's time as United coach is set to come to an end after a string of poor results.

The humiliating defeat at home to Liverpool this past weekend was the final nail in the coffin for the Norwegian manager as the United hierarchy have decided on a change of coach.

Antonio Conte is believed to be the replacement lined up for the job and the news has sparked happy reactions from a large section of the fan base because they know that things are about to turn around for good under the Italian tactician.

The defence is the first department that Conte will want to address at Manchester United as they have struggled at the back under Solskjaer. The Red Devils have kept just one clean sheet all season (in all competitions) but all that could change under a defensively minded manager like Antonio Conte.

Eric Bailly will be the most delighted person with this development at Manchester United. Antonio Conte is famous for his three-at-the-back setup and he is expected to implement it at Old Trafford.

This setup will favor Bailly especially because he is a type of defender that suites Conte’s style perfectly.

The former Villarreal player is an aggressive defender who is equally good on the ball and disciplined out of possession. With Conte’s arrival, Bailly is expected to be deployed in a back-three alongside Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire (or Victor Lindelof).

Bailly could experience a transformation under Antonio Conte in a similar manner which Rudiger was transformed under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.
