Opinion: Ronaldo's Early Release From Portugal Camp & Return to Man United May Be A Wrong Decision

Portugal continued their quest to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as they took on the Republic of Ireland in a match in which Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in the first half but stole all the headlines as he scored two late headers that gave Portugal the win and went on to become the highest goalscorer in international men's football.

The Portugal captain has been released from the Portugal national team, according to reports from www.rtp.pt, as he will not take part in their next two games, and in my opinion, Ronaldo might have made the wrong decision, as he had the opportunity to play in their last friendly against Qatar even though he had missed the next World Cup qualifier match due to suspension because of the yellow card he got while celebrating the winner against Ireland, where he pulled his shirt, as this may affect the Portugal team's spirit as the rest of the team may miss the presence of their captain who plays a huge role in the team, both on and off the pitch.

The report states that the star will go back to Manchester United to join up with his new colleagues after making his summer move from Juventus to Manchester, so he will have the chance to familiarise himself with his manager and new teammates before the club's football season resumes in a week.

What are your thoughts? Don't you think Ronaldo's decision may be a selfish one, as he returns to Manchester United after breaking the goalscoring record? Or do you think he is right in his decision? Make your opinions heard in the comments section below.
