Oldest Clubs Currently Competing In The English Premier League

1. Nottingham Forest

The oldest club currently competing in the English Premier League is Nottingham Forest. As a result of their victory in the Championship play-offs final, they were the third team to be promoted to the English Premier League for the 2022/23 season, following in the footsteps of Fulham and Bournemouth. The club was established in the year 1865.

2. Aston Villa

Aston Villa is the second-oldest club currently competing in the English Premier League. Members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Church in Handsworth were the founders of the club. The first founders were people who played cricket for the church and were seeking a means to stay in shape during the colder months. They were found in March 1874

3. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Throughout the history of the English Premier League, Wolves is the third-oldest club. The club was established in the year 1877. The club was formerly known as St. Lukes's FC, but in August 1879, they decided to change their name to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

4. Manchester United

Manchester United is the fourth oldest team currently competing in the English Premier League. The club was first known as the Newton Heath LYR Football Club when it was established in 1878.
