Man United have not exactly had a good season, dropping out of the champions league group stages and getting knocked out of the FA Cup in the quarter final by a rampant Leicester city and also dropped out of the League cup semi final against rivals Man City. However, there have been silver linings for the club this season and three of such are the trio of Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, sparking debate over who should be named the club's player of the season.
Luke Shaw on his part has had a resurgence this season after United acquired Alex Telles from Porto to rival him for the left back spot for a fee reported to be in the region of £15 million. Shaw has had a standout season for United, probably what could be seen as his joint best or indeed best season in a United shirt. He has made 39 appearances in all competitions this season scoring once and assisting six goals.
Another Candidate for the award is Portugal sensation Bruno Fernandes, who has built on an impressive first season at the theatre of dreams. He has made 48 appearances for United this terms scoring a whopping 24 goals from midfield and assisting a further 14.
Another front runner for the award is academy graduate Marcus Rashford. The English winger is now the club's first player since Wayne Rooney to score at least 20 goals in back to back seasons for United. He has made 48 appearances this term and has contributed 20 goals and 12 assists.
Going by the numbers, Bruno Fernandes should be named player of the season but Shaw could just edge him to the award, given his resurgence.
