Newcastle United’s takeover could change established order in the Premier League.
Newcastle United is set to run wild in the January transfer window after their super-wealthy new owners completed their initial assessment of the squad.
However, here are four top players the Magpies could lay their hands on next summer;
The playmaker would be keen to return to the Premier League, but it is unlikely he will land at a club of Liverpool’s level again. Instead, he may have to look for an ambitious club from the mid-table regions.
Newcastle could thus be a good fit for him as they aim to climb up the rankings.
An extra creative option would not harm a team that has struggled for goals on the whole. Again, though, it would be a case of gambling on whether Coutinho, 29, can regain his form.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen
If there is a gap to fill then Newcastle would likely want to address it with quality. At 29, Ter Stegen is at a good age for a keeper and would get his first chance of Premier League football.
Barcelona, if able to find a replacement, would benefit by getting his wages off the books. Again, Newcastle should be able to afford that aspect of a potential deal if it is something they wanted to do.
Given that he has already been linked with the likes of Barca and some of the Premier League’s elite sides, he too would take some convincing.
But Newcastle’s new owners may want to make one statement signing to appease the fans. A move for Martinez would show some muscle.
His ability to fill in either out wide or in attacking midfield will also make him an enticing option for Steve Bruce, or whoever else is in the hot seat come January.
Superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho are making life difficult for Lingard at Old Trafford, and he could be wise to seek a nailed-on starting spot elsewhere as he ventures further into the prime years of his career.
