Sir Alex Ferguson's reaction after Ole benched Ronaldo against Everton.

In a conversation with former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at Old Trafford, the legendary former United manager was filmed saying you should always start with your best players. He came after Ronaldo stayed on the bench until the 57th minute of United's 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.

The video, posted on Nurmagomedovs Instagram, sees Ferguson suggest that the Toffees got a boost when they saw that Ronaldo wasn't playing Nurmagomedov then reminded Ferguson that Ronaldo entered the second half, before the Scotsman said that players of his caliber should start. Ronaldo appeared to shoot off the court full time, looking frustrated and muttering to himself. When you have Cristiano Ronaldo, you have to build a team and a structure around him, so that it can work for him, former England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright said in Game of the Day.

If you've got him on your team, a match winner, and you can't set him up to play there, to do what he's doing, he's going to leave the field like that. But United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended his decision to let the 36-year-old Portuguese captain rest. Me and him, we understand more than the experts, Solskjaer said. It's about choosing the right times to play him, not to play him.

He's no longer a young puppy but he's more professional than ever and ready to play and he came today with energy and attitude. Meanwhile, United assistant manager Mike Phelan has reached a new deal with the club until 2024. Phelan was a member of Fergusons coaching staff before returning to Old Trafford when Solskjaer was initially appointed interim manager in December 2018. United is also working to secure first-team coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna on extended contracts.
