Chelsea Rejected 13-Year Old Mbappe For Not Being Able To Defend. What's Your Honest Take On This?

It may sound ridiculous but Chelsea once passed up the chance of signing a bright talent in Kylian Mbappe simply because he couldn't defend when he had his trial at the club.

Serge Daniel Boga who was a Chelsea scout until 2014 told popular sports news site Goal why one of France's biggest talent didn't join Chelsea.

"He took a trial and didn't convince us (Chelsea), because he didn't offer enough defensively"; Boga said.

"So they asked his mother if he could come back for a second trial".

But Kylian Mbappe's mum replied with such confidence that should have persuaded Chelsea to snap him up, yet they didn't.

This is what Mbappe's mum said at the time:

"My son will not go back, either they sign him now or within 5 years they'll have to offer 50 million Euros to tie him down".

When PSG signed Mbappe in 2017, he was just 18 but cost the French giants well over €100m to land their man from Monaco.

Now imagine how much will be his price tag after all he's done and won at his current club.

Even if Chelsea decides to do whatever it takes to bring Mbappe to Stamford Bridge, will the player ignore a club like Real Madrid to sign for the Blues?

Probably not. Chelsea already missed their chance and to make up for it won't be so easy.

Mbappe singlehandedly destroyed Barcelona with a hattrick and if at the age of 22 he already has the world at his feet, imagine the success he will achieve in coming years.

What's your honest take on this? As a Chelsea fan, would you blame the club for not signing Kylian Mbappe when virtually no one knew him?
