Chelsea spotted Mount's talent at the age of six but had to work cleverly to ensure his future

What now for Mason Mount? As the full-time whistle went last night the Chelsea midfielder was straight onto the pitch to celebrate with the rest of his England teammates. Chelsea spotted Mason Mount's talent at the age of just six but had to work cleverly to ensure his future at the club.

Mount and Chilwell embraced and spoke to Gilmour on the pitch, and also spent 25 minutes with their Chelsea team-mate in the tunnel afterward before he went on to return a positive test on Monday. Jamie Redknapp says he expects Mason Mount to return for England's starting line-up for Saturday's Euro 2020 quarter-final against Ukraine.

It wasn't until he was six years old that Mason Mount first played a competitive game of football on the grass. Yet from that day on, he was a player Chelsea couldn't afford to be without. Mason Mount is already a Chelsea hero after helping the Blues to Champions League glory for only the second time.
