Chelsea star suffering from 'mental tiredness' ahead of Norwich clash

Thomas Tuchel believes Romelu Lukaku's six-game goal drought has been caused by mental fatigue and overplayed throughout the summer.

After making an early impact after his return to Stamford Bridge in the summer, the Belgian international has hit a plateau and is now without a goal.

Chelsea will play Malmo in the Champions League at 8 p.m. today evening before hosting Norwich City to south west London this weekend.

The German tactician has lamented the crowded calendar that sees footballers play more games in a season, and says he is undecided about whether to play Lukaku in an attempt to shake off his fatigue or to give him time away from the team.

"Romelu, in my opinion, is a little overplayed right now." I believe he competed in too many competitions this summer, including too many with his country. He was a member of the Nations League, and he is a fantastic athlete and a comptitive guy who never rests.
