UEFA Champions League

Two Times Ronaldo Has Scored A Late Winner For Manchester United In A UCL Match This Year

Yesterday's UEFA Champions League match is an epitome of Ronaldo's impact in big games. The Atalanta game is not the only match he has saved Manchester United some blushes by scoring a late winner, as he has done this before this season.

Manchester United found themselves trailing by two goals against the Italian side after a poor performance in the first half. The lack of defensive awareness from Lindelof allowed Pašalić to tuck in the first goal after a nice pass from Zappacosta. Atalanta double their lead in the 29th minute after Koopmeiners well taken corner kick was met by Demiral, who headed past De Gea. The Reds tried to pull a goal back in the first half, but Marcus Rashford was unable to convert his chance after being put through on goal by Fernandes in the 42nd minute.

The second half was where all the fabulous drama came, as Solskjaer's men started the half with purpose. Ronaldo nearly reduced the deficit to one in the 57th minute, but his shot was well saved by Musso. More pressure was applied to the Atalanta defence and United levelled the game at the 75th minute, with goals from Rashford and Harry Maguire.

It was until the 81st minute that Cristiano Ronaldo shuddered Old Trafford with a perfected headed to put United ahead after a fine cross from Luke Shaw. Ronaldo's late goal ensured that United completed the comeback in style. Ronaldo's goals yesterday is not the first time he has scored a late winner for United this season in a UCL match. He did similar thing in the match against Villarreal in match day 2.

In that game, United were trailing by a lone goal after Paco Alcacer put Villarreal ahead in the 53rd minute. Alex Telles equalized seven minute, but it was as if all the game will end in a stalemate, not until Ronaldo displayed a moment of brilliance in five minutes of added time.

So far, Ronaldo have proven to be a big buy for United, as he always shows up when his team needs him the most.
