UEFA Champions League

On-loan Chelsea Striker Lukaku Scored More Goals Than Entire Chelsea Squad Last Month

Chelsea's most expensive mistake Romelu Lukaku, just like the West London club this season, is also struggling to hit the ground running at San Siro with Inter Milan.

Romelu Lukaku was loaned to Inter Milan last summer at end of the 2021/22 season after having a terrible season on his Chelsea return. The West London club paid the then Club record fee of £97.5million to sign Romelu Lukaku from Belgium after they had just won the UEFA Champions League in 2021 and the former Manchester United Forward helped Inter Milan to win Italian Serie A title around that same time.

The struggles of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz as the two Germans were leading Chelsea's offense made the Blues to deep their hands into the coffer to pay the top Dollars for Romelu Lukaku but, that didn't work out for both side.

Romelu Lukaku had to be send back to Inter Milan at the end of his first season at Chelsea after he had a terrible season and fell out with the Manager and the Fans.

At Inter Milan this season, Romelu Lukaku hasn't made any meaningful contribution as he has missed more than half of the games that Milano has played so far this season due to injury.

Regardless of that, Romelu Lukaku still managed to outscore the entire Chelsea squad that has Mykhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana last month.

The fact that Romelu Lukaku scored just 2 goals last month was bad but what's worse is Chelsea scoring just 1 goal in the whole of February despite playing 5 games in all competitions.

Romelu Lukaku scored a goal against Udinese in the Italian Serie A and he also scored the only goal during the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Porto last month.

His two goals in February were more than what the whole Chelsea Squad scored in that same month. Joao Felix scored his first Premier League goal against West Ham United. That was the only goal that Chelsea scored in February.
