Premier League

Based on current form, here are the top 10 best midfielders in the world

Lets take a look at the top 10 best midfielders currently in the world based on current form

Honorable mentions

Jorginho seems to have a new lease of life since Thomas Tuchel arrival at Stamford bridge.

The Italian midfielder has taken his game to a whole new heights while he has also showed the kind of passing ability that made him one of the most sought after midfielders during his time at Napoli.

Frenkie De jong

The only Barcelona midfielder on our list, Frenkie De jong has often been deployed at Centreback at times this season.

The 24 year old Dutchman has however put in good showings whenever he has been deployed in his favorite position at the middle of the park.

Leon Goretzka

It is no surprise that Leon Goretzka is in out our list even though the German does not make our top 10 due to his protracted time out with injury.

However, the 26 year old has been influential whenever fit this season and Bayern would have certainly had a more solid defence to their Champions league crown if he had been available for Hansi Flick's men.

Paul Pogba

It seems like Paul Pogba is trying to sell himself to potential suitors this summer following his recent performances for Manchester united.

The 28 year old has been unusually consistent in the middle of the park this season at Old trafford while his untimely injury back in January was arguably responsible for Manchester united's falling short behind Manchester city in the EPL title race.

Top 10

Ikay Gundogan

Gundogan seems to have finally come out of the shadows of Kevin De bruyne at Manchester city this season.

The German midfielder has arguably had more impact in city's push for the Uefa champions league and the English premier league title than any other player in Pep Guardiola's squad this season which makes him almost untouchable.

9) Ngolo Kante (Chelsea/France)

Another solid season for Ngolo Kante who just continues to amaze at Stamford bridge.

Kante has been spectacular once more this season for Chelsea without actually anything special. The 29 year old Frenchman has been Chelsea's most trusted defensive midfielder when fit this season and has gone about doing his job in the casual no - nonsense Ngolo Kante style.

8) Mason Mount (Chelsea/ England)

Undoubtedly, the best midfielder in London at the moment.

Mason Mount is starting to exceed expectations at Chelsea and the 22 year old is doing it with so much consistency at such a young age. Mount has played a key role under both managers that has coached Chelsea this season... You cannot just hate this guy even if you're a rival fan.

7) Casemiro (Real Madrid/ Brazil)

One of the best defensive midfielders of his generation, Casemiro has once more played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's near successful season so far.

The Brazilian has been superb in midfield alongside long term partners Toni Kroos and Luka Modric as they look the propel their team to a double this season.

6) Thomas Muller(Bayern Munich/Germany)

Probably the most consistent midfielder in the German Bundesliga for the past 10 years.

Thomas Muller is still waxing very strong in midfield for Bayern munich this season. The 31 year old was powerless to stop Bayern from crashing out to PSG in the champions league, but one cannot put all the blame on the midfielder who was a threat to the French side all evening.

5) Luka Modric (Real Madrid /Croatia)

Our 2018 ballon d'or winner looks to be back to his best this season.

Modric who has managed to stay fit this season has played a key role in Real Madrid's la liga and Uefa champions league title push this season... The Croatian would give any young midfielder a run for their money despite turning 37 next year.

4) Joshua Kimmich(Bayern munich/Germany)

Kimmich has been molded by Hansi Flick into the best versatile midfielder in the world.

The 26 year old who has been a key man for the club and country once more this season has shown the sort of consistency that is sure to make him to best midfielder in the world someday.

Believe me, Joshua Kimmich is a rare gem.

3) Bruno Fernandes (Man united/ Portugal)

Even Manchester united never knew they would be getting such a good midfielder when they signed Bruno Fernandes back in January last year.

The Portuguese has been such an important figure in the middle of the park for united and has tilted Solskjaer's men towards the league title after almost singlehandedly dragging them to a champions league spot last summer.

Bruno has been nothing but brilliant for Manchester united. A leading contender for the PFA player awards this year.

2) Kevin De bruyne (Man city/Belgium)

This name doesn't need introduction anymore...part of me still feels Kevin De bruyne should probably be no 1 on our list.

The Belgian attacking midfielder is not your casual midfielder and is head and shoulders above every other midfielder in the English Premier league on a good day. De bruyne return to full fitness will be very crucial if City are to win the treble this season.

1) Toni Kroos (Real Madrid /Germany)

The German machine himself... Toni Kroos seems to have been reborn this season.

The 32 year old has been central to Real Madrid's champions league and La liga run this season which sees all the other midfielders in the world rank behind him when it comes to current form.

No one comes close to this German at the moment, not even Kevin De bruyne.
