Balon D'Or 30-man Shortlist: Two Chelsea Players That Are Currently Reaping The Fruit Of Hazard's Labour

The Balon D'Or Award nominees have been narrowed down to 30 players who performed exceptionally well since the start of 2021 calendar year. There was no winner for the 2020 Balon D'Or as most leagues were cancelled. However, the 30-man list for the prestigious award have been released and a lot of Chelsea players were named in it.

Eden Hazard is an exceptional player whose dribbling and take-on is on another level. The Belgian had a great career at Chelsea. He went close to being named in the Balon D'Or top five in 2017 due to his immense contribution to that squad. Eden Hazard played his last season for Chelsea in 2018 before completing his big money move to Real Madrid. This was where he was now expected to perform at the highest level that could even earn him the Balon D'Or.

However, things did not work out well for him as his career was heavily damaged by incessant injuries. On the first season of Eden Hazard's departure at Chelsea, he won the Spanish La liga with Real Madrid while the blues finished that season without any trophy. But certain talents were discovered in Chelsea's academy. The likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Billy Gilmour and even Reece James all got promoted into the senior team.

Chelsea went ahead to sign the likes of Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz to revitalize their attack. After Chelsea's successes in UEFA Champions league and super cup last season, a lot of Chelsea players were included in the Balon D'Or 30-man list. The likes of Jorginho, N'golo Kante, Lukaku, Ceasar Azplicueta and Mason Mount.If Hazard was still a Chelsea player, these two Chelsea players would not have made that list;

1. Mason Mount: The English man broke into that first team as soon as Hazard left for Real Madrid and his consistency earned him that position.

2. Jorginho: The truth of the matter is that Hazard have always been Chelsea's talisman and his departure made some other Chelsea players' performances to be noticed.
