BRE 0-1 CHE: One player who helped Chelsea succeed where Liverpool failed.

The blues narrowly defeated Brentford at home yesterday in a frantic encounter. The newly promoted Premier League club gave a good account of themselves with a performance that is deserving of at least a point. For the third time this season, Thomas Frank's men almost took at least a point from the Premier League top teams, having defeated Arsenal on the opening weekend of the league season before snatching a point at the death against Liverpool.

As it is with most football matches, what decides who wins a football game could be just one little thing and as such, we will analyze in this article one thing Chelsea had against the Bees that Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool lacked when they visited the same ground some weeks ago.

For some moments in the game between Chelsea and Brentford yesterday, it looks like the blues were going to drop points again as Thomas Frank's men attempted to find an equalizer late in the game. Chelsea stood tall at the end and survived everything that was thrown at them. While they have most of their players to thank for their scintillating performances, one person stood out for them yesterday, and it can be said that he is the one that made the difference.

Against Brentford, Liverpool scored three goals but also conceded three, but Chelsea scored a single goal against the same opponents but emerge victorious. One thing I believe Liverpool lacked in that encounter is a World-class goalkeeper. In truth, Allison Becker is good, but he doesn't seem to be at the level of Chelsea's Edouard Mendy at the moment. Chelsea had a single shot on target against the Bees and scored with it.

However, Thomas Frank's men had seven shot on target, but couldn't hit the back of the net with it. It was not that those shots were not well taken, but Edouard Mendy is just too good that he could save them all. In truth, if Chelsea wins the league this season, then it could be down to Mendy's brilliance, something the other Premier League team doesn't have.
