Cristiano Ronaldo's SIUUUUUU Goal Celebration and how it began

A lot of Football Players has their signature goal celebration that is known to them and has been made iconic by these Players because they celebrate that way each time they score a goal. While other Players will make different statement or different celebration when they score a goal, many has stick to a certain goal celebration.

For Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, he'll make a short run, hop and by the time he's landing, he's already making a fist bump, like the Asians traditional mean of greeting but without the bowing down. Kylian Mbappe crosses his two arms over his chest with his hands reaching his armpits whenever he scores, that's his own signature goal celebration.

Each of these Player knows the meaning that this goal celebration means. Perhaps the most Iconic of them all is Cristiano Ronaldo's Siuuu Goals celebration. The Siuuu goal celebration needs no introduction but for the sake of writing, it's when Cristiano Ronaldo scores a goal, he'll make a short run, jump up and perform a 360 degree in the air. He'll land on his feet with both arms and feet spread out and shout SIUUUU.

He has stick with this iconic celebration for almost a decade. He started it when he was at Real Madrid, stick with it till he became the club's all-time highest Goalscorer with 450 goals. He took the iconic celebration along with him when he moved to Juventus in Italy where he scored another 101 goals for the Old Ladies. The goal celebration became even more popular as more Players including Cristiano Ronaldo's teammates and opponents has adopted the celebration over the years.

When Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal for Manchester United against Newcastle United on his second debut, the whole of home Fans present at Old Trafford, as if they had been waiting for it, erupted with the loud noise of "Siuuu."

It was very emotional and as a Chelsea Fan, I couldn't help myself from taking part in the excitement at the viewing Centre. By the time Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United in 2009, he didn't have any signature goal celebration. His first Siuuu against Newcastle United was his first ever in United Jersey and at Old Trafford but where and how did the Siuuu started in the first place?

According to Goal, the first time that Cristiano Ronaldo did the iconic celebration was during a Pre Season friendly against Chelsea in 2013. Prior to the match, the Chelsea Manager at that time Jose Mourinho whom was formerly Real Madrid Manager only three months earlier had made a provocative statement against Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese Gaffer said that the Real Ronaldo was the Brazilian Legend Ronaldo Nazario. Cristiano Ronaldo replied his former Boss Jose Mourinho affirmatively on the pitch by scoring a goal as Real Madrid thrashed Chelsea 3-1 in the friendly Match, and that was how the Siuuuu celebration was birthed.

"I scored and it just came out. It was completely natural, to be honest. Afterwards, I realised that I enjoyed it and started to do it more often. I saw that the Fans liked it and that they remembered it so I carried on doing it," Cristiano Ronaldo said.
