UEFA Champions League

Why I'll Thank Eto'o For The Rest Of My Life - Materazzi

Marco Materazzi says he will forever be grateful to African football legend, Samuel Eto'o for keeping to his personal promise of delivering the prestigious UEFA Champions League (UCL) at Inter Milan of Italy.

Eto'o, who had won the UCL at Barcelona of Spain (twice), swapped the Camp Nou club for the Nerazzurri in 2009.

At Inter, with big names as Lucio, Samuel Eto’o, Diego Milito, Thiago Motta, Walter Samuel, Ivan Cordoba, Wesley Sneijder, Esteban Cambiasso, Dejan Stankovic, Julio Cesar, Maicon, Cristian Chivu, et al., they were crowned champions of Italy and Europe in 2010.

Although, Cameroonian Eto'o did not score in the Champions League final against Louis van Gaal's Bayern Munich in Madrid, Materazzi, 46, holds his former teammate - a protagonist for Inter in Europe 10 years ago - in high regard.

“Eto’o is a brother and I will thank him for the rest of my life," Materazzi said in an Instagram Live chat with Sebastien Frey (a French former goalkeeper).

"He promised me the Champions League and he kept that promise.”
