3 Chelsea Players That Could Be Seriously Affected By Eden Hazard's Return

Chelsea have allegedly initiated ‘informal' talks with Real Madrid to complete Eden Hazard's spectacular comeback. Hazard moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid in a £100 million deal in 2019, but his form in Spain has deteriorated.

Chelsea's favorite has had a dreadful time with Real Madrid. In 51 games, he has only five goals and has incurred the fury of the club's fans.

It's a far cry from his performance in west London. Hazard scored 110 goals in 352 games since joining Chelsea from Lille shortly after their 2012 Champions League triumph.

However, it is a move that could cause selection problems for Thomas Tuchel. Hazard would be a more serious concern for the 48-year-old, who has an abundance of attacking skill.

Here are three Chelsea players for whom Hazard's presence could spell doom:

1. Timo Warner

The German's future at Chelsea has already been cast into doubt by his poor start to the season and the £97.5 million signing of Romelu Lukaku.

Werner has been told by Tuchel that he can play with the Belgian on the left or in a two-pronged attack. The addition of Hazard, whose best performances in a Chelsea shirt came on the left flank, would undoubtedly cast doubt on that.

Werner would be pushed even further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and he would need to make the most of the opportunities presented to him by Tuchel.

2. Hakim Ziyech

Ziyech, like Werner, is one of the few Chelsea players whose recent signings haven't worked out.

For a spot supporting Lukaku, the Morocco international is frequently pushed aside by Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, and even Werner. In 45 games, he has only seven goals and four assists to his credit.

Ziyech also scored the opening goal in Chelsea's UEFA Super Cup victory over Villarreal on penalties in August.

The addition of Hazard, though, would push him further down Tuchel's priority list, and he would almost certainly try to cut his stay short.

3. Callum Hudson-Odoi

Hudson-Odoi, like Ziyech, would be pushed even further down the pecking order if Hazard returned.

Tuchel has frequently deployed the 20-year-old as a wing-back, but he appears to be trailing Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta even in that position.

There is a case to be made that Hudson-Odoi needs to move on to jumpstart his career and realize the immense potential he displayed as a youth, regardless of Hazard.
