Christian Erikson accepts to have an ICD implant

Erikson suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the pitch during Denmark's opening Euro 2020 game against Finland last week.

Denmark, who eventually lost 1-0 to Finland also lost 2-1 to Belgium in their second game, play their final group B match against Russia on Monday.

Denmark gave an important update on Christian Erikson's condition after the Inter Milan midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday 12/06/2021. 'It has been decided that he should have an ICD'.

The 29 year old was taken to the hospital where he was revived and had been under treatment for the past one week.

Denmark doctor Morten Boesen confirmed the 29 year old 'suffered cardiac arrest', and the DBU (the Danish FA) has given updates regarding Erikson's condition.

"After Erikson has been through different heart examinations, it has been decided that the should have an ICD (heart starter)," a statement from the Danish FA said.

"This device is necessary after a cardiac attack due to rhythm disturbances."

"Christian has accepted the solution and the plan has moreover been confirmed by specialists nationally and internationally, who all recommend the same treatment".
