Chelsea Eye A Transfer For £24.5m Rated Argentine Star: A Shrewd Move By The Club?
Chelsea could reportedly make a move for Ajax centre-back Nicolas Tagliafico when the transfer window reopens.
As per the Sun, Tagliafico will cost the club £24.5million, a fee that will be cheaper than what the club will have to fork-out for Ben Chilwell, who is their primary target.
Chilwell would be the ideal target considering his Premier League experience and ability, but Tagliafico would be a good option as well.
The Argentine made 24 appearances in the Eredivisie for Ajax, and has been a mainstay in the team with his impressive performances at left-back.
Chelsea have been extremely active in the transfer market after their ban was lifted, and have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. The duo will add considerable potency to their attack, but it is their defence that needs to be strengthened.
Chelsea keen on to sign€80m-rated Atletico Madrid star
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has responded to recent transfer rumours linking shot-stopper Jan Oblak with a move to Chelsea.
Slovenia international has shone as one of the finest players in the world in his position in recent times, and Blues would do well to bring him in as an upgrade on the struggling Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Oblak heavily linked with Blues in a possible swap deal involving Kepa, while the Blues would offer cash around £90m plus their current number one for the goalkeeper.
Now Simeone has responded to the Oblak transfer talk and says he’s not surprised to hear of interest from Blues. Still, the Argentine boss did not sound like he was planning for his star player’s departure, as he expressed his desire for the club to keep their most important players.
I am not surprised that Chelsea admires Jan Oblak, he is a decisive player for us,” Diego said. “But he is the captain and our participation every year in the Champions League helps us keep our best players so I hope he will continue with us.”
La Liga giants have ended up having to sell several world-class names down the years, with Antoine Griezmann leaving for Blaugrana last summer, while Chelsea have raided them for the likes of Diego Costa in the past.
Frank Lampard addresses Leicester City and Man United battle ahead of Liverpool test
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is gearing up for three "finals" as the battle for Champions League qualification comes to a head.
Lampard's men are third in the Premier League table, one point ahead of Leicester City and Manchester United.
While the Foxes only have one game left following their 3-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and United each have two.
The Blues take on champions Liverpool on Wednesday night, while United are at home to West Ham.
Leicester go head-to-head with the Red Devils in their final fixture on Sunday, with Chelsea hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Lampard's side also have an FA Cup final showdown with Arsenal to look forward to after beating United 3-1 at Wembley.
"I think sometimes people have looked at us as Chelsea and expectations are always high," said Lampard.
"But then the reality beyond that which I know because I work here every day is that we are working towards something.
"We want to close the gap on others and it doesn't come easy, we have seen that with other teams in recent years so it is step by step.
