Liverpool has been outstanding this campaign, and they are presently one point behind league leaders Chelsea. They've been relentless and clinical in front of goal, and they've done a fantastic job in attack. Manchester United, on the other hand, has been lackluster and far from their best. To beat a powerful team like Liverpool, Solskjaer will have to be at his tactical best. Based on this, here are five things Manchester United must do in order to defeat Liverpool this weekend in English Premier league encounter.
5. Start With Fred And Scott Mctominay
United has more midfield stability thanks to a double pivot of Fred and McTominay. Fred was allowed to show off his ability against Atalanta in the second half, and it will be necessary again against Liverpool at the weekend. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not start with these pair, Liverpool may outclass the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
4. Be Ruthless On The Counter
United has the ability to overcome most opponents thanks to the likes of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho in attack. Against Atalanta, the 20-time English league champions showed what they are capable of. They have the firepower to upset Liverpool this Sunday if they can perform in the same way against them.
3. Manchester United Must Use Paul Pogba Effectively
Match-winners may be found in both Manchester United and Liverpool's squads. One of them is undoubtedly Paul Pogba. In midweek's UEFA Champions League match against Atalanta, the Frenchman came on as a substitute and played a key role in United's incredible comeback. Pogba will not have to start against Liverpool since it will be tough to integrate him in the lineup with Fred and McTominay. When he comes off the bench, however, he can be a powerful threat.
2. Get The Ball To Bruno Fernandes
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Bruno Fernandes has undoubtedly been one of Manchester United's greatest players. His goal-scoring ability and creativity have aided the Red Devils on numerous occasions. The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder has four goals to his name, and it goes without saying that he will be fired up to take on Liverpool this weekend. Solskjaer must ensure that Fernandes' teammates reach him as much as possible, allowing the Portuguese master to work his magic on the field.
1. Solid Positioning Of Full-backs Against Liverpool
The performances of Manchester United's full-backs are one of the causes for the team's terrible run. Luke Shaw has been played out of position many times this season, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka hasn't appeared as solid and powerful in the back as he usually does. Manchester United, on the other hand, must have a solid probability of winning this match. To avoid wandering out of position, Shaw and Wan-Bissaka will have to be at their absolute best.
