Opinion: Tuchel Needs To Stop Giving The Same Excuse After Lukaku's Poor Display Against Brentford

Chelsea secured an important win against Brentford in their Premier League game earlier today. Thomas Tuchel was very pleased with the performance of his players especially in the first half.

Chelsea controlled possession in the first half as they created chances after chances. However, it took them 41 minutes before breaking the deadlock.

Ben Chilwell scored a brilliant volley towards the end of the first half to give Chelsea a deserving lead. That was his third goal in as many games for club and country.

Brentford improved their performance in the second half as they stopped Chelsea from dictating the pace of the game.

Brentford went very close to get an equaliser on several occasions in the second half but Edouard Mendy was right there to save Chelsea's blushes.

Speaking after the game, Thomas Tuchel specially praised Eduoard Mendy for his world-class saves.

The German manager also pointed out the reason why he substituted Romelu Lukaku in the game against Brentford.

He said, "I am not concerned about Lukaku's performance today. He was isolated because we were defending as a block too deep. That was the problem today".

Thomas Tuchel needs to stop giving the same excuse when Lukaku struggles to make a mark in a game.

Tuchel keeps blaming Lukaku's performance on the way the team plays and he is not prepared to change the system.

It is quite unfortunate that Lukaku will keep struggling to score goals if he is not allowed to be a part of the team's attacking play.

Lukaku hasn't scored a single goal in his last six games for Chelsea

I am pretty sure that Chelsea fans are worried about Lukaku's current form. The Belgium striker scored four goals in his first five games for Chelsea but things haven't been the same ever since.

I don't think Lukaku should be blamed for his lack of goals in recent games. According to statistics, Lukaku has got just four shots on targets in his last six games. The team has also managed to create just three chances for the attacker in those games.
