After Barcelona women defeated Chelsea ladies in the recent Champions League final encounter, it was also a night to be remembered by Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala who became the first female footballer to win a Champions League trophy. Here are photos of the jewel of African football, celebrating her success.
Asisat Oshoala's story to European glory is a story that will go a long way to inspire many to success in their various careers, because her rise to European glory wasn't a smooth ride as she encountered a lot of shortcomings as a girl who chose one of the most difficult sports in the world, and also in a world where football for women was underappreciated.
However her will power and determination to succeed has really paid her well as she has unlocked a new chapter in her life, and brought another recognition to female football in Africa. With the attitude and belief that what a man can do, a woman can even do better, Oshoala has proven that sports for the girl child should be encouraged in Africa and also serve as a means of empowering the girl child.
