Tim Sherwood has applauded Giroud's mentality to fight for his spot despite starting the season on the bench.
Sherwood added that he believes Chelsea are a better team with Giroud.
“I can’t speak highly enough of this boy,” Sherwood told Premier League Productions about Olivier Giroud.
“[He doesn’t] pick up his phone to his agent saying ‘Get me out of here because they’re not playing me’ — he rolls his sleeves up.
“He says to Frank Lampard, ‘You know what, you could spend all the money you want, I’m still the best centre forward you got’.
“And I believe he’s the best No.9 at that football club. They’re a better team with him in it.”
Giroud scored against Aston Villa to become Chelsea 's top scoring striker for the season so far.
The Frenchman has been in excellent form since late November and seems to be the most potent goal-threat for the clubs
