It was a good day at the office for Arsenal players, as they defeated a stubborn Aston Villa side, who have won them for the previous three matches. There were four Arsenal players, who I think put in an outstanding performance tonight.
The gunners started the match with purpose, as they wanted to go with all three points after dropping some points against Crystal Palace four days ago. An outstanding first half performance was finished off by two goals from Thomas Partey and Aubameyang, while a Smith Rowe's deflected shot put an icing on the cake for the gunners. The four players, who put in a convincing performance today, are;
1. Nuno Tavares
The 21-year-old summer signing took his chance excellently well after he replaces an injured Kieran Tierney in the starting line-up today. He defended well tonight, and contributed immensely to the attack tonight. For the price Arsenal paid for him, it is a deal which looks like a steal. Tierney will have to watch his back.
2. Emile Smith Rowe
The Arsenal number 10 had a sublime game tonight, as he part of the reason why the gunners triumphed today. The Hale End Academy graduate created a game-high four chances for team-mates. Smith's game by numbers today shows that in 90 minutes played, he had, one goal, one assist, 46 passes (86.5% accuracy), 4 key passes, 1 big chance created, 3 dribbles (100% success), and five ground duels
The Belgian international midfielder bounced back from a terrible performance against Crystal Palace to dropping in a fantastic display today. He occupied the Xhaka role in the midfield, and covered up for Thomas anytime he bumped forward. He pressed well, and covered a lot of grounds in the match.
The Frenchman burning fire is one of the main reason why Arsenal won today. Even Arteta greeted him first after the final whistle was blown. His hold up play and defensive duties really helped the team tonight. I guess we will be seeing more of him now.
Who was your favourite player tonight?
