Ligue 1 Match Day 35 - Three Key Fixtures This Weekend

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will seek redemption following their lacklustre 2-1 loss at the hands of Man City, as they prepare to host fifth place Lens in their Ligue 1 Week 35 clash at the Parc des Princes.

League frontrunners Lille are also at home to welcome 9th place Nice at the Stade Pierre Mauroy with their sights set on UEFA Champions League (UCL) next term. It will be an icing on the cake for Christophe Galtier's tutored side to nick the French title ahead of their more illustrious competitors.

Here are the three key fixtures this weekend in the French top-flight

1. PSG vs. Lens

The Parisians must put their acts together before their second leg UCL semi-final against Man City. They can move back to the summit of the log for sometime with the spoils of victory, while Lens will seek to bolster their UCL qualifications chances next term.

Mauricio Pochettino has a pressing priority to deliver the Holy Grail of European football to the Qatari backed Parisian side, as anything short of this would be considered a failure. PSG are firing on all cylinders on the domestic front with three successive wins over Strasbourg, Saint Etienne and Metz. They would be eager to conclude this assignment to focus on the big prize next week.

2. Lille vs. Nice

Lille will fancy their chance when they march towards the Ligue 1 title as they welcome Nice to their stomping ground on Saturday evening. Lille are in giant killing form as they triumphed over Lyon with a 3-2 victory, while Nice tasted the sweet pudding of victory over Montpellier. Veteran striker Burak Yimaz is the man with the Midas touch for the with a superlative display in their 3-2 win over title contenders Olympique Lyon away from home. They would hope to reenact this form when they host Nice at home.

3. Monaco vs. Lyon

Lyon are unbeaten in their last 15 Ligue 1 away games and this would be a mountain high to climb for the Principality based Monaco when they host the visitors on Sunday evening at the State Louis II. Niko Kovac's tutored side are within touching distance of Ligue 1's summit and would dig deep to cart home the spoils of victory in this Week 35 clash. Monaco possess a prolific strike force in Wissam Ben Yedder and Kevin Volland with 33 goals between them, while Lyon boast of Memphis Depay and Karl Took Ekambi with 30 goals haul so far. It would be a contest replete with fireworks.
