Lautaro Martinez's solitary goal gives Argentina a 1-0 win over Peru to extend their unbeaten run

Argentina won their World Cup qualifier match at Buenos Aires due to a solitary goal scored by Lautaro Martinez with a powerful header past the goalkeeper at the 43rd minute of the first half to give Argentina the lead before the break.

Peru had a chance to tie the game with a penalty after second half substitute Jonathan Farfan was brought down in the penalty box by Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. But Peru Yoshimar Yotun sent his attempt off the crossbar and out for a goal kick to give the Argentinians a huge let off.

The match did not produce any clear cut chance for neither teams as Argentina was able to grind out a hard fought 1-0 to take a step closer to their goal of qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Argentina where able to continue their unbeaten run of 25 matches with their last defeat coming in 2019 Copa America 2-0 semifinal defeat to Brazil.
