Messi scores to catch up with Ronaldo on the Golden Shoe table (see full table)

Lionel Messi was simply on fire yesterday as the Argentine helped his side to a crucial 5-2 over Getafe in the Spanish la liga.

The 33 year old who found the back of the net twice in that game helped to keep his side's hope of winning the La liga title alive while he also caught up with eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo on the European Golden Shoe table.

The Barcelona attacker is the record winner of the European Golden Shoe award having secured six so far in his career and is aiming to win a seventh award although it is almost impossible for the Argentine to catchup with Top spot Robert Lewandowski.
