Shortly After Maradona Was Declared Dead, This Is What His Country President Did For Him.

The world stood still yesterday in pain and agony to the demise of a football legend, Diego Maradona. Diego Maradona, the captain of the 1986 world cup winning team died from a heart attack yesterday at the age of 60.

Shortly after his death, the Argentine President Alberto Fernandez declared 3-day national mourning and offered the presidential palace for the funeral of the football legend. Extending his respect for the legendary footballer, he wrote; “You took us to the top of the world, you made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of all. Thanks for having existed, Diego”.

His fans gathered in various spots that are linked to him. At Villa Fiorito in a small home where he was raised and at Argentinos Juniors stadium where he started his football career. At the stadium, they placed candles and flowers against a wall in order to pay their last respect for him.
