The premier league this season started brilliantly and have already delivered blockbuster matches for the fans of the English top-flight. The competition in the league is what makes it stand out amongst other European leagues, where a winner of the title or an award is almost certain every single season.
Mohammed Salah is leading the race for the premier league golden boot after seven matches in the English Premier League. The Liverpool foward has found the back of the net six times in seven matches, and he is joined on top of the goals standing with Jamie Vardy of Leicester City who also has six goals this season after seven games.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku are the two top worldclass strikers that returned to the Premier league after previously leaving the English league in the past. Both, Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo are been tipped to win the golden boot at the end of the season. However, they have only scored just three goals each so far in the campaign.
There are two reasons why Cristiano Ronaldo, Jaime Vardy and Romelu Lukaku might overtake Mohammed Salah in the race for the premier league golden boot this season.
1. All Three Are Natural Strikers
Mohammed Salah is not an in and out striker at Liverpool. He predominantly plays on the right wing and usually cuts in on his favourite left foot to have a shot on goal which most of times hit the back of the net. Whereas, Romelu Lukaku, Jaime Vardy and Cristiano Ronaldo are all the strikers up front for their teams, that might give them the edge over Mohammed Salah.
2. Salah's Big Chances Missed
Despite being lethal in front of goal with his left foot, Salah has a lot of big chances missed. Harry Kane won the award last season by just scoring one goal more than Salah. However, Salah had missed nineteen big chances and good goalscoring opportunities which eventually made him lose out to Harry Kane. This season Mohammed Salah is already leading the list of players with most big chances missed with four this campaign.
These two reasons explained above might make Cristiano Ronaldo, Jaime Vardy and Romelu Lukaku to overtake Mohammed Salah in the long run.
